"What are some preferred sales books? Looking for general sales techniques like SPIN selling.", Megan C.
Megan, great question because I believe successful sales and business executives are lifetime learners. Personally, I am a voracious reader and listener (I listen to books on CD in my car). I am currently reading a fictional book The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry and listening to Simplexity: Why Simple Things Become Complex (and How Complex Things Can Be Made Simple) by Jeffrey Kluger.
Below is my recommended sales reading / listening list in order of preference. As you can see, I am 'old school' and I am recommending non-sales specific books to assist with your sales career too:
- “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey
- ”Strategic Selling: The Unique Sales System Proven Successful by America's Best Companies” by Miller Heiman
- "Cold Calling Techniques" by Stephen Schiffman
- "Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable" by Seth Godin
- "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin
Lastly, I am going to make a shameless plug for my fictional novel, "Decisions". In my novel, the main character is a sales manager and has the steps of winning a complex multi-million dollar technology sale.
