Celebrating 26 Years in London, Cotswold, Amsterdam, Giethoorn, Bruges, and Paris!

To celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary, on Friday, September 30th, Christine and I boarded a red-eye to London for our 10-day European trip with a tour of: The Costwolds; a train to Amsterdam; and a rental car drive to Paris with an overnight stop in Bruges, before flying back from Charles de Gaulle.  We walked over 60 miles during our trip!   Check out our Pictures:

Saturday, October 1st:

After, struggling to get an Uber at the airport (there was a rail strike the day we landed), we checked our luggage at our London hotel, we went on an eight-mile self-walking tour.  We started with the Thames River.  We ended In Notting Hill, and had our best dinner of the whole trip at Los Mochis!

For fun, I got my picture with both the Queen and Churchill!

Sunday, October 2nd

In advance, we reviewed so many English countryside options, and booked an Evans & Evans Tour, visiting the Cotswolds, towns of Burford, Bibery, Bourton the Water.  Visiting the stone houses was an amazing trip back-in-time!

Monday, October 3rd

To get to Amsterdam, we booked Eurorail tickets.  We took a iconic Black Cab to the train station and our Lorry driver was so funny and opinionated.   On our 30-minute ride, he gave his opinions on Queen, New Prime Minister, Brexit, Inflation, Covid, King Charles, Will, Kate, Harry, Megan, and even more Royals.

Amsterdam is a crazy biking city!  Check out my short video of ALL of the bikers!

Tuesday, October 4th

We rented a car and drove 90 minutes Day trip to Giethoorn, and then in Giethoorn rented a boat.  Our boat trip including rescuing stranded tourists on a boat!   https://giethoorntourism.com/.  Giethoorn is canal village and like Cotswolds, another step back in time.

Wednesday, October 5th

We spent the day with walking about Amsterdam, including The Heineken Experience.

Thursday, October 6th

We started our day with a sobering visit to the Anne Frank Museum. I was given great advice to book our tour in advance as the museum is sold out.  An amazing story of both hope and despair during the second world way.  After the tour we had lunch in Utrecht, before arriving in Bruges, Belgium

Friday, October 7th

We loved Bruges.  Another step back in with buildings and bridges from the 14th Century.  Before heading to Paris via Ostend, we climbed to the top Belfry Tower.  Our Paris hotel was near the Arc of Triumph, so we immediately climbed to the top.  After the Arc, we had a best dinner with view, with outdoor dining on The Avenue des Champs-Élysées and the sunsetting on the Arc.

Saturday, October 8th

We covered over 19 miles of Paris, walking 12 plus miles around Paris and including our boat tour of the Seine River, my iwatch tracked over 19 miles, before running out of battery.  Our walk covered the Eiffel Tower,  Notre Dame, Marais Section:

\In Amsterdam, I took a video of the bikers.  In Paris, check out the drivers around the Arc of Triumph!

Sunday, October 9th
