A Perfect Quick November 2024 Weekend Getaway: Chattanooga

On November 9th, 2024 Christine and I embarked on a quick weekend escape to Chattanooga , and it turned out to be the perfect getaway! We stayed at the beautiful Edwin Hotel , nestled right along the Tennessee River . Its ideal location gave us direct access to the, built in 1890 iconic, Walnut Pedestrian Bridge , one of Chattanooga’s most recognizable landmarks. The bridge became the centerpiece of our adventure, as Christine and I walked over 4 miles, crossing the river to explore Coolidge Park and the charming streets on the north shore, before heading back downtown to visit Ross Landing. After a day of strolling, we capped off the evening at Whiskey Thief , Chattanooga’s only rooftop bar, where we soaked in stunning views of the city as the sun set. The ambiance, paired with the city lights, made for a memorable night. April 2024, Northern California Road Trip!

In April of 2024, after visiting the indescribable American treasure, the Grand Canyon, earlier this year; Christine and I decided to head west for an impromptu six-day trip in Northern California / Bay Area to see more of America’s gems. Side note: we considered a trip to Tokyo, but by the time we decided on Japan, flight prices had skyrocketed by 50%. In classic Shaun and Christine fashion, we drove almost 600 miles and visited Yosemite, Pebble Beach, Carmel-by-the-Sea, tried to go to Big Sur, Pacific Grove, Monterey [Lunch with Adam!], Santa Cruz, and Burlingame, overlooking the SFO runway. Yosemite was the first part of the adventure, involving a drive up the mountain then descending into the Yosemite Valley, where we stayed at the Yosemite Valley Lodge . The park is simply breathtaking, with its stunning natural beauty characterized by dramatic granite cliffs, ancient sequoia trees, clear streams, and rich biodiversity.
